Startup Weekend Louisville connects local entrepreneurs, product developers, designers and startup enthusiasts with the resources and mentors to help them jumpstart their business ideas. On Friday night anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea to their peers, then teams form organically and work to develop the most promising ideas into startups that have been validated by customers. On Sunday night, each startup team presents to a panel of judges for a chance to win the bragging rights for best new startup idea in Louisville! And if that's not enough, we'll feed you throughout the entire weekend - your ticket to this immersive startup experience includes three meals each day and plenty of snacks.

Mike Davis

Co-founder, CEO of Appriss

Michael Davis is co-founder and CEO of Appriss, Inc., a technology company with a mission to keep communities safe and informed. Mr. Davis helped launch the nation’s first automated victim notification service in 1995.

Mr. Davis is an active member of the Mary Byron Project board, a 501(c)(3) public charity focused on ending the cycle of domestic violence. He serves on other non-profit boards in the Louisville area as well.

Mr. Davis is a two-time winner of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and in 2004 he was awarded the prestigious Paul H. Chapman award by the Foundation for Improvement of Justice.

Katie Bush

Founder & Creative Director, KBD

Katie Bush has been working in marketing communications and design for over 20 years. Before founding KBD in 2000, Katie held positions as Design Director for Michael Patrick Partners in Palo Alto, CA and Marketing Design Director for the Hi-Tech Group of CMP Media in San Francisco. She holds a BFA degree from Georgetown University, and is the recipient of Georgetown University’s Alumni Gaston Award. She’s a member of AIGA, Louisville Graphic Design Association, and the founder of Friends of Bloom, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to children’s health and fitness initiatives.

Steve Huey

CEO, Capture Higher Ed

Steve Huey is a dynamic, results-oriented leader with a proven track record of sustainable performance in high-tech industries. His recent accomplishments include co-leading the expansion of The Learning House, Inc., where he helped triple the size of the company in three years, and co-leading the turnaround effort at, where he helped triple the company's sales. Steve previously spearheaded the acquisition of a $7 million anti-spyware software and services company, launching four new products that resulted in $10 million of new business. He has also lead a $210 million cable product business where he dramatically reduced customer churn and added $7.4 million in annual sales. Steve graduated from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University with a Master of Business Administration. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting at Miami University, Ohio. He was selected to attend Harvard Business School's Executive Education, Corporate Governance.

Bob Marino

CEO, CafePress

Bob Marino is Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors at CafePress. Mr. Marino joined CafePress in August 2005 and previously served as Vice President of Operations, Chief Operating Officer, and President for the firm. Before CafePress Mr. Marino served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cuisine Innovations, LLP, a manufacturer of hors d'oeuvres in North America. From February 1999 to November 2003, he served as Vice President and General Manager of various divisions of Tyson Foods, Inc., a food production company. Mr. Marino received a B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. from Rider University.

Elizabeth Rounsavall

Director of Research and Analytics, Chrysalis Ventures

Elizabeth Rounsavall joined Chrysalis Ventures in 2007 and provides research and analytical support to the investment team for Chrysalis’ primary investment sectors: healthcare and technology. Prior to Chrysalis, Elizabeth worked for Booz Allen Hamilton in New York, NY as a Senior Associate where she led project teams in delivering financial and economic research, analysis and recommendations for clients across a variety of industries including media and communications, banking and insurance. Previously, she worked for Macmillan/McGraw-Hill as a Technical Consultant and for Simon & Schuster as Manager of Intranet Services. A native of Louisville, she is active in community affairs as a board member and Treasurer of Actors Theatre of Louisville as well as a member of the Advisory Council for the Governor’s School for the Arts. Elizabeth holds a BA from Yale University and an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.

Tony Schy

Managing Director, Velocity Indiana

Tony Schy is the Managing Director for Velocity Indiana, an Entrepreneur Center focused on developing the area's entrepreneurial ecosystem through education and programming initiatives. Among other programs, Velocity operates its flagship business accelerator twice annually. He is an active angel investor, investing in both start-up companies and real estate. Tony serves on the Board of Directors of several local companies as well as the YMCA of Southern Indiana and Teach Kentucky. Prior to his current role, Tony was the Managing Partner at Chapman Kelly, Inc., (CKI) a Jeffersonville, IN based healthcare consulting firm. CKI provided cost-containment and compliance services to large employers throughout the US. CKI received multiple awards including the Louisville Fast Fifty, Indiana Companies to Watch, Greater Louisville Inc.’s Hot Dozen and Inc. 5000. After building the firm to 100 employees and becoming a recognized market leader in its core line of business, the company was sold to HMS Holdings in Dallas, TX. Tony then spent 8 months as the interim District Director for Indiana’s 9th District US Representative, Todd Young. Prior to CKI, Tony had a 9-year career with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), where he was a Director in their Global Outsourcing practice. Tony graduated with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
