Startup Weekend Louisville connects local entrepreneurs, product developers, designers and startup enthusiasts with the resources and mentors to help them jumpstart their business ideas. On Friday night anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea to their peers, then teams form organically and work to develop the most promising ideas into startups that have been validated by customers. On Sunday night, each startup team presents to a panel of judges for a chance to win the bragging rights for best new startup idea in Louisville! And if that's not enough, we'll feed you throughout the entire weekend - your ticket to this immersive startup experience includes three meals each day and plenty of snacks.

  • Location: 400 Missouri Ave #102, Jeffersonville, IN 47130
  • From downtown Louisville: Take the 2nd Street bridge north, then turn left at the first light into the Velocity parking lot – just below the water tower.
  • From I-65 Northbound: Take Exit 0 at the north end of the Kennedy bridge, turn left at the light onto Court Ave, pass under I-65 and through the first light, directly into the Velocity parking lot.

Ankur Gopal

Founder and CEO, Interapt   |   LinkedIn

Ankur Gopal was born and raised in Kentucky. He is the son of Vijay and Ruby Gopal, M.D. Ankur graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1992, where he was a regional tennis champion and ranked #1 in the state of Kentucky twice in doubles. He went on to receive an athletic and academic scholarship and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in History and Economics in 1996. After graduation he attended graduate school at the University of Dayton, focusing on eCommerce. Most recently, Ankur attended the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he concentrated on Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship.

Upon receiving his M.B.A. Ankur worked for 5 years at Accenture, doing consulting, strategy and an IT Effectiveness Group, working with multiple Fortune 500 clients.

In 2007, Ankur started Agent 511, now Interapt, in Kentucky. Interapt is a successful hi-tech, one-stop mobile company that develops mobile solutions and mobile strategy for its clients. His partners were all classmates and alumnae from the University of Chicago. The mobile solutions include text messaging, iPhone, iPad, Google, Android, and Blackberry solutions. Ankur was promoted from COO of Agent511 to become CEO of Interapt in 2011.

Interapt is based in Louisville Kentucky, with an office in Chicago, and is expanding nationally. Interapt has worked with clients all over the U.S., and works with multiple Fortune 50 clients on maximizing mobile technology within their business.


Vik Chadha

Executive Vice President of Venture Development, Nucleus KY   |   LinkedIn

Vik Chadha is the co-founder of a number of high-tech companies such as Backupify, a leading backup provider for cloud-based data, GlowTouch Technologies, a four-time Inc. 500/5000 software and services company with 1,000+ employees, and Scalable Ventures, an early-stage startup investment and operating firm.

He is presently serving as the Executive Vice President of Venture Development for Nucleus, where he is leading a number of commercialization initiatives for the University of Louisville Foundation.

From 2001 to 2010, he was a Managing Director of the Enterprise Corp in Louisville, where he managed a portfolio of over 100 client companies and helped them raise $120 million. Prior to the Enterprise Corp, he worked as the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at bCatalyst, an early-stage business incubator. He started his career working as a consultant for GE Appliances where he was a founding member of their Internet team.

Vik holds a B.S. degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from the Manipal Institute of Technology and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (with a major in Computer Engineering) from Virginia Tech.

Terry Goertz

Terry Goertz has broad experience in operations, strategic planning, business development, fundraising and software development. He's passionate about leading people to solve big problems and executing solutions, and he believes in using big data and analytics to uncover hidden insights, spot trends and create new products that can reduce costs and increase revenue.

As Data Scientist at Appriss, Terry is leading a top strategic initiative to consolidate data into a new data platform. He's building the team to create the next generation data platform from the ground up, leveraging new technologies such as DynamoDB.

Previously Terry was co-founder and Co-CEO of ParkVu, a startup at the cross-section of mobile, social and entertainment. ParkVu led the path of innovation by being the first to wirelessly sync music to a smartphone and the first to enable consumers to share music from iTunes on Facebook. ParkVu's Monstro captured a deep understanding of entertainment, meta-data and enterprise scale technology to provide social reaction, demographics and psychographics previously unheard of. At ParkVu Terry worked with the latest cloud, mobile and database technologies, and successfully raised over $2 million in private and venture capital and built strong relationships with our board and investors.

Ted Smith

Chief, Economic Growth and Innovation at Louisville Metro Government   |   LinkedIn

Ted Smith was appointed as Louisville's first Director of Innovation in 2011, with the goal of identifying ways to spur innovation within government agencies while spreading the word throughout the community. Today, as Director of Metro Louisville’s Department of Economic Growth and Innovation, he leads a department seeking to grow the local economy through many initiatives, including flexible loan programs, advanced planning and strategic work in globalization and sustainability.

Before joining the Metro government Ted was a senior advisor in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, leading initiatives encouraging innovation in health IT and public private partnerships. Other positions included work with the White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP) Open Government Team, and leading an online media company that featured news about the treatment of chronic disease.

Ted has held executive positions at The Health Central Network, CNET Networks, and Gartner Institute. He was President and Co-founder of MedTrackAlert.

Ted earned a bachelor of science in Neuroscience from Allegheny College and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from Miami University (OH). Dr Smith completed his post-doctoral studies at MIT in space biomedical measurement and was a Co-Investigator for the Neurolab space shuttle mission. He was named Government Technology’s Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers for 2013.

Alli Truttmann

CEO, Wicked Sheets   |   LinkedIn

Alli founded Wicked Sheets, a supplier of luxury and performance bedding, in 2008. The company produces sheets made from technical fabric that wicks moisture away from the body, keeping the user cool and dry.

In 2012 Alli entered and won the Venture Sharks competition hosted by Louisville's Venture Connectors. Since then sales have grown steadily, as more customers discover the benefits of Wicked Sheets. In 2013 Wicked Sheets won a GLI EnterpriseCorp Hot Dozen award for promising new companies. Alli was honored as a member of the Business First 40 Under 40 list for 2013.

Alli is also an Adjunct Professor of psychology at Bellarmine University. She serves as the Vice President of the Bellarmine Alumni Board of Directors, and is a committee chair for St. Jude annual "Give thanks. Walk" event.

Alli was recently featured on a front-page story in the Courier-Journal about the emerging startup community in Louisville. She holds degrees in psychology from Bellarmine and from the University of Louisville.

Doug Whyte

Doug Whyte has over 25 years of executive experience in domestic and international businesses. His career experience encompasses various roles of increasing levels of responsibility in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, product innovation and development, and sales and marketing.

In his most recent role he served as President, The Americas, for Dometic Group, a Swedish global company. In this role, Doug led Dometic’s Consumer, Automotive, Truck, Marine, RV, Lodging, Medical and Retail products business units. He was also responsible for numerous manufacturing and distribution operations within North and South America with over 1,100 employees. In 2011 Doug and the executive management team successfully transacted Dometic Group to private equity owner EQT Partners in Stockholm, Sweden.

Doug previously held executive leadership positions at Rockwell International, Ingersoll Rand/Schlage Lock, Black & Decker, and Gale Pacific Ltd (Australia). He is active in angel and early-stage capital investing with active and diverse portfolio investments in numerous domestic and international companies. Doug also provides business consulting for startup and established companies and is currently a mentor and business coach for Greater Louisville’s Vogt Awards entrepreneurial program as well as southern Indiana’s Velocity Indiana program.

Doug serves on the Board of Advisors, University of Louisville School of Business as well as the Board of Trustees, Bellarmine University. He is involved in a number of philanthropic causes.
