Resources for Louisville Startups

by

Thank you for making Startup Weekend Louisville Fall ’13 a success. All of the organizers, judges, mentors and others volunteered their time, and the sponsors came through in a big way to provide financial support for the event. But, without you as a participant, there couldn’t be a Startup Weekend Louisville.

To keep the momentum going, here are some resources that can help you become an active part of the Louisville startup ecosystem:

Education & Training

  • Startup Weekend NEXT – put the Lean Startup method into action: this 1-night/week program begins the week of October 14th at Velocity. It’s the closest thing to an accelerator without quitting your job.
  • Nucleus LaunchIT – 10-week program with top notch speakers plus business model development.
  • Louisville Library Treehouse – free online resource for learning software development.
  • Awesome Inc – based in Lexington, but with technology courses in Louisville as well.

Accelerator Programs

  • Velocity Indiana – twice yearly program emphasizing rapid business development; provides equity funding & mentors.
  • XLerateHealth – emphasis on health-related businesses; provides equity funding & mentors.
  • Vogt Awards – grant program plus accelerator for manufactured-product companies.

Governmental & Non-profit Assistance

Social & Networking

  • Venture Connectors – monthly networking with entrepreneurs, including a featured speaker and startup pitches.
  • Open Coffee – an informal weekly gathering of startup-minded people.
  • Forge – hammering out a startup community in Louisville; join the mailing list, come to the events.
  • Louisville Digital Assoc. – social media, marketing, hackers, more.
  • LVL1 – Louisville’s hackerspace. Hardware, software, 3D printers, experts and amateurs.
  • StartupLouisville.com – your first stop for a local startup event calendar and other resources for Louisville Startups.

And finally, please support our sponsors – they covered most of the cost for Startup Weekend Louisville, and we can help by patronizing their businesses:

That’s it, see you in the spring.
